24 th April 2023 Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune On 24th April 2023, Pune International Centre (PIC) in association with Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics launched the book Exprovement: Exponential Improvement through Converging Parallels, co-authored by Mr Hersh Haladker and Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, FRS, former Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and President, PIC. The launch event was held at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics and chaired by GIPE Vice Chancellor Dr. Ajit Ranade.

Exprovement focuses on achieving exponential results through creative and innovative thinking. In their book, Mr Haladker and Dr. Mashelkar have discussed many insightful examples of ‘Exprovement’ and strategies to develop the Exprovement Mindset.

Dr. Mashelkar spoke about his inspiration to become a scientist and how he is a great believer in exponential growth. “Be exponential, don’t be incremental,” he said.

Mr Hersh Haladker spoke about the Delta, the gap between What is and What could be, around which the book revolves. He said, “Design thinking is incremental, innovation is breakthrough.

” Dr. Ranade initiated an engaging conversation with the authors and spoke about innovation and its importance. “Innovation is all about pushing boundaries, and it is the source of economic growth,” he said. He gave examples of innovations and anecdotes mentioned in the book which opened new markets in the economy. PIC Director Abhay Vaidya welcomed the audience and the speakers and also concluded the event with a vote of thanks.
