Prof. Jyoti Chandiramani has been in the field of Higher Education since 1982. She has since been playing the roles of lecturer, administrator, and researcher and is deeply involved in the process of institution building. She describes herself as a social scientist. Since 2010, she has been steering the progress of Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE), established in 2008, and as Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Symbiosis International Deemed University (SIU).
for the fourth term. Since 2022, she has taken additional responsibility as Head of the Symbiosis Centre for Urban Studies (SCUS). Her research interests are Urban Economic Development (urban poverty, urban infrastructure, urban mobility, urban policy, etc.). She keenly studies and follows trends in International Development Cooperation – from MDGs to SDGs. She has expertise in the economic development and growth of the Indian Economy – the macroeconomic environment, urban development, infrastructure, and liveability index. She has been guiding Ph.D. scholars and has undertaken research projects and consultancy in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Integrated Tribal Development Programme, Sulochana Thapar Foundation, and many other reputed think tanks in India.
