Major General Nitin Gadkari (Retired)

Maj Gen Nitin Gadkari has had a distinguished career for 37 years in the army. He retired in June 14 from the Army War College, Mhow. He was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery in June 1977. He was part of the team which got trained on the BOFORS gun in Sweden and got the first gun to India.

He was also part of the UN team which went into Iraq & Kuwait after the first Gulf war for enforcing and monitoring ceasefire on their border. He commanded an artillery Regiment during Kargil operations in the strike corps in the western sector and an artillery brigade in a counter terrorism role in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. He has served in the Counter Insurgency areas in J&K and has done his PhD on “Motivation for Terrorism- A Study, focusing primarily on the J&K. He has keen interest in security matters and has written in defence journals on allied subjects. He has distinguished academic credentials. He has the following academic degrees: BA from Jawaharlal Nehru University, MA (Economics) from Pune University, MSc (Defence Studies) from Madras Univ, MBA from Symbiosis Institute (Defence) Pune, and a PhD in Business Management from Osmania Univ, Hyderabad.
