The ‘Science, Technology, and National Innovation Ecosystem’, a horizontal research track at Pune International Centre (PIC) is dedicated to addressing complex national challenges through a purpose-driven, collaborative, and interdisciplinary approach and spans multiple research verticals and focus areas within PIC. Guided by the holistic STEP (Social, Technological, Economic, Policy) framework, the track focuses on leveraging science, technology, and innovation to enhance quality of life, foster economic growth, and deliver sustainable solutions. By engaging with like-minded organizations, experts, and stakeholders through discussions, workshops, and roundtables, STNIE drives impactful research and develops policy recommendations to advance national priorities and shape a better future.
Key Initiatives

A platform to unite contributors to Digital Public Infrastructure and Goods, including Indiastack.global, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Proposing two DPI-focused courses to AICTE for integration into engineering college curricula, supported by a multistakeholder roundtable which took place in Match 2025 to shape the initiative.
Engaging public opinion through consultations to ensure inclusive and impactful deployment of DPI initiatives.
In collaboration with Pune Knowledge Cluster, Centre for Sustainable Development at Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, and Centre for Development Studies and Activities, this project assesses the true cost of water services, user perceptions, and willingness to pay.
Utilizes analytics and predictive modeling to promote sustainable water management.
Launched with a stakeholder roundtable in January 2024.
Focuses on advancing energy efficiency through technological interventions, initially exploring energy-efficient lighting.
Collaborating with the Indian Society of Lighting Engineers, College of Engineering Pune Technological University, and IEEE to develop policy recommendations.
Initiated with an expert roundtable in December 2024.
Drives transformative capacity-building experiments at the College of Engineering Pune Technological University, with support from TCS Alumni group FORTESS.
Aims to create a model higher education ecosystem that fosters innovation and prepares the education sector for emerging opportunities, such as India’s semiconductor push and other technological revolutions.
Leverages digital technology and telecommunication to expand access to quality education.
Focuses on proactive AI-driven cybersecurity and international collaboration to secure critical infrastructure.
Featured a panel discussion during the Asia Economic Dialogue 2025 with experts from the Asia region.
