It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to the upcoming PIC’s Book Club on Mein Jahrhundert (My Century) by Günter Grass, who was one of Germany’s most influential post-war writers, renowned for exploring the moral, political, and social realities of 20th century Germany through powerful and imaginative fiction. His celebrated works, including “The Tin Drum” and the “Danzig Trilogy”, earned him the 1999 Nobel Prize in Literature.

The book is a remarkable collection of 100 interlinked stories that together create a vivid historical portrait of the 20th century in all its grandeur and horror.

The session will be led by Prof. Dr. Neeti Badwe, former Professor of German and Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, University of Pune. A distinguished scholar, translator, and researcher, Prof. Dr. Neeti Badwe has authored books and monographs in German, English, and Marathi, presented around 100 papers at national and international conferences, and published extensively in German, Marathi, and English journals and publications. She has also served as Guest Professor at German universities and guided research at the Ph.D., M.Phil., and M.A. levels.

Guidelines for the Book Club:
The session will be of 70-75 minutes, divided into two segments:
