Mr. Vijay Gokhale joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1981. His previous diplomatic assignments include postings in Hong Kong, Hanoi, Beijing, New York and Taipei. He was High Commissioner of India to Malaysia (Jan. 2010-Oct. 2013), Ambassador of India to the Federal Republic of Germany (Oct. 2013-Jan. 2016), and Ambassador of India to the People’s Republic of China (Jan. 2016-Oct. 2017).
He was India’s Foreign Secretary from January 2018 to January 2020. He is currently a distinguished Professor at Symbiosis International University, Pune, and Senior and Non-Resident Fellow at Carnegie India.
